Audience feedback

Audience feedback

In this task we had to propose three questions to our target audience. These questions were what do you think the basic plot of our thriller is? What do you think the key strengths and weaknesses are and How do you think our thriller could be made more effective?  The first question, what do you think the basic plot of our thriller is was both hard and easy to understand. Will thought that our thriller was about a presidential assassination and there was a world crisis at the time. A lot of the people we asked however found it hard to realise why the president was killed and for what specific reason. This part of our thriller was quite hard to understand as he was a domestic terrorist so this meant that he could have been from anywhere and was driven by religious or his own views. We do not find out why as the assassin kills himself so that he cannot release any information which seemed to tell our audience that he was a political assassin or he did not agree with the actions that the president was about to do.

The second question, what you think the key strengths and weaknesses of our thriller were very different when we asked different people. Greg said that there was too much dialogue and the action should have come in earlier in the plot. Most said that the action was the main strength, however the build up at the very beginning of our thriller made it encapsulating for the audience. The feedback that we got also said that our title sequence could have gone further and we could have had a separate title sequence without any shots at the very beginning. Some of the strengths included the mise en scene and the props and the editing techniques that we used to speed up the pace of our thriller at the end of the opening sequence. Some of our best feedback was that when Emma started watching our thriller, she said that she found it very hard to turn off and often had to watch it again. This was one of our aims as we wanted the audience to see it in the cinema and then buy it on DVD after so that they could watch it again and again.

Our final question to our target audience was how do you think our thriller could be made more effective. One of our target audience, Will said that we should have included more shots in the action scene and perhaps made it a bit longer and this would have shown how well protected the president is and how badly they needed to catch him. Another person said that we could have had more body guards to make it more realistic for the president. Moreover that the space we were shooting in could have been bigger and a bigger desk because it is the president and he is the most powerful man in the world.
