Actors for thriller

Actors

The actors that we are going to include in our thriller have to include a 1960s impression and especially aspects from the Kennedy administration. For example in the Kennedy administration he incorporated a lot of young advisors and a lot of his generals were younger than him. The attorney general was also younger than him. Kennedy and his administration focused on appearance and therefore a lot of people in his administration were presentable and were also very young.

The actors that we are going to incorporate will mainly be teachers from my school and will be young and moreover Kennedy was the first president to incorporate African American people into his administration and said that this was an important for his appearance and moreover his popularity.

We will have eight actors in our thriller:

  • I president
  • An attorney general
  • A general
  • 4 security guards
  • A Russian assassin

The president will hopefully be played by Phil (pictured below) this is because he is young and is a lot like Kennedy he also has a good appearance and looks like a 1960s president. Our general will be played by Roy, because he will be presented well as general as he can do a good American accent and he looks like a general. The Russian assassin will be played by either Gleb or Mickey, we have chosen these two actors as they are Russian and the Americans were in a cold war with Russia at the time.  The attorney general will hopefully be played by Adam, we have chosen Adam because the attorney general needs to look like the president as they were brothers. The security guards will be played by Michael and Mickey this is because they look big and they also look like security guards.

Gril with the Dragon Tatoo trailer analysis

Girl With The Dragon Tattoo analysis

The background to the thriller is back and displays quick jump cuts to show that it is a thriller. There are close ups of him typing which displays that it is something to do with writing. There is then a fight followed by someone robbing something which shows that it might be something to do with crime. The thriller then continues to show black outs which shows that it might be a very dark thriller. There are then close ups of a lot of people doing serious things. The serious looks on people’s faces and the man with the magazine shows that it is to do with journalism .  there is then a shot of a dead body which displays that it there is violence in it and a lot of crime and corruption. The press are shown to interview and follow the main characters around illustrating that they have done something wrong or they are in the middle of an investigation. The thriller ends showing a a fast paced scene and lot of people running. The lighting is very dark which displays that it is a dark film with a lot of conspiracy’s. The thriller shows that there might be a hidden or mystical story in the film.

Audition Trailer Analysis

Audition trailer

There are many signs to show that this is a thriller. To start off with the trailer is very slow paced. The man shows a very troubled facial expressions and there are quick jump cuts to show a women in a room however you can’t see her face which puts forward a dramatic effect and illustrates that it’s a horror. There are close ups of both of the actors having eye line matches towards a phone displaying that they need to talk to each other.  Later on in the thriller when the girl begins to raise her head there is a bag in the room which starts to move. This reiterates that it is a horror. The trailer then becomes extremely fast paced showing her with a needle and injecting people it then cuts to her making love to someone and her on a beach amplifying that she was once good however has something in her past which has changed her. This is displayed by the picture of a young ballet dancer. It then shows her torturing the same person that she was having sex with. This shows it to be a horror and moreover it shows that she has a had a psychological effect on her. She is hspwn to be very mysterious. However the thriller ends with her doing ballet as child with light shining on her which shows her to be good in the end.

Nuclear bunker settinfg and slight thriller changes

Nuclear Bunker setting

our thriller has slitley changed and the new location of our thriller will now be in a nuclear bunker. The presidnet will still be calling of an nuclear attack on Cuba however he will now be inside a nuclear bunker. The setting for a nuclear bunker will be easy enough to set up and there are good locations inside the school to show that they are in a nuclear bunker.
For example this corridor in school is a perfect indication that it is underground because of the lack of natural light and windows, more over it has a tunnel like look to it.

We found that the setting we had before in the office would be to hard to set up in terms of finding the right props. We have also made it so the shooting will come from inside and will come from a russian spy. The obnly changes therefore are the settings and the change that the president will get shot from inside by a russian spy. (we have already found someone to act for us to be the spy).

The picture shown here is a lot like the one that is pictured above in our school this will give it a very realistic effect of a nuclear bunker.

Story Board

Props for thriller

Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels Title Sequence

Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels Title Sequence

In the title sequence of Lock Stock and two smoking barrels its a very contraversial approach. Instead of showing what the film is about through the traditional or stereo typical way of showing a title sequence. The title sequence is mixed into to the opening scene in the film. firstly it shows a man selling goods for other people. The man has a cockney accent and shows it to be in london through the use of pounds and their accents. The man has crude jokes and is very amusing yet whitty when he is clearly selling stolen and fake goods.

Him and his partner use each other to make money as the partner prottends to be among the croud. When the police come they immdiately run away which shows what they are doing is bad. There is then a non diegetic voice over of teh narrator who says that 'Bacon' who is one of the characters in the films selling goods on the street days are over. The slow motion shows this as they throw all their goos away. There is also non-diegetic music that comes in at that time. It shows they are used to it and know how to deal with situations like this.

The font that appears and the actions that are going on at the same time show that its a crime thriller. The names that come up first because it is a british film and therefore needed more money to fund it. The names of the actors arent put in as they arent big enough to have any importance.

The first thing that we see is someone trying to sell goods to people on the street.

Catch Me if you can title sequence

Catch Me if You Can Title Sequence

In the opening sequence there is a very specific font used. Not only the font however the lines on letters are extended. This might be used to imply that the film has an inside meaning and also may be used that the deceptions that he continues to get by Tom Hanks will never end. The title sequence shows Leonardo Dicaprio to be involved in all kinds of professions such as being a doctor or a pilot. The stereo typical appearance of a police man is portrayed through Tom Hanks and it is reinforced when he is chasing Leonardo Dicaprio.

The crime genre is portrayed through the font as he might always be hiding behind the lines that are shown through the lettering. The crime genre is also shown through the car chase and the fact that he is always being chased throughout the title sequence. Moreover he knows he has to be hiding. The actors enjoyment from avoiding tom hanks is shown by the amount of times he does it and the number of disguises he undertakes.
The music that is used in the Title sequence is a jazz style music and has a lot of saxophone in it. The music is used to show the hiding and the trickery of Leonardo Dicaprio. The music increases in pace everytime Tom Hanks gets close. The fact that the actors are shown before the name of the film represent that the audience will be drawn to the actors not the name of the film.

  • There will then be a tracking shot of a security guard bringing over a code installer which will stop the nuclear attack on Cuba.
  • There will be a close up (still a tracking shot) of his hands to illustrate to the audience what he is carrying.
  • The AG will then hand the president the type writer.
  • It will show a shot reverse shot of the president to the AG as JFK and RK who was the attorney general in Kennedy presidency were brothers.
  • The shot reverse shot will show the severity of the situation from the looks on their face.

  • The security guards will be shown in a POV of the president running over in slow motion to amplify that he is dying.
  • They will then show a medium wide shot of the AG and the chief of staff taking the position of the president’s seat assuming the power of the nation and will then guess the rest of the code.
  • They will do extremely quick jump cuts to show the two people in the room typing in the rest of the code.
  • The thriller will end with a shot reverse shot of the general and then a panning shot of the security guards all staring at the code tipper to show the severity of the situation.
  • The thriller will then end with the camera fading out and it will be left on a cliff hanger.

Plot for narrative action

Plot of narrative action for ‘code’

The thriller opens with security guards in a boardroom touching their ears signifying that the president is about to enter the room. There will be jump cuts to show they are talking about the president’s entry. The president will then enter the room and be greeted by all the people in the room who will all salute him symbolising his importance and that he is the president of the United States. A general will then usher the president over to his desk and place a code setter on the table. The president will be in a rush so all of this will happen at a fast pace as he has to call off a nuclear attack on Cuba. Subtitles will show that they are calling of a strike from Cuba at the beginning of the thriller. The speech will show the date and where the president is. While calling off the attack he will type in the 4 numbers out of six and then he will be shot through the chest. The security guards will then draw their guns to show that they could be expecting another shot. The non-diegetic sound will show suspense as the chief of staff of the United States army and the attorney general will try and type in the rest of the code to call of the strike. The camera will jump cut to the president to show that he is dead and can’t do anything. There will be high pitched music to signify they don’t know what they have done and we will leave it on cliff hanger so the audience won’t know whether they have started a nuclear war or not showing that it is a thriller.

Set and Thriller

We recorded this video to show what kind of shots we would use and the general setting of our thriller and what a brief outline of what is going to happen at what time. What we dont say in this video is the title sequence and that the thriller will be set in the 60s and that the code that they are typing in is to call of a nuclear attack on Cuba. The security guards will also rush over with guns when the president is shot.
